The following floating contraindications are known:

  • Cold with cough
  • Acute herniated disc. When the disc disease is treated, floating can help in convalescence, but in the acute phase is strongly advised against it.
  • Untreated epilepsy: if patients with epilepsy are discontinued with medication and no sudden seizures are expected, the disease itself is not a problem and also the effect of the floating is not in itself contrainduced. Only if a seizure occurs during the float, the affected salt solute can inhale and stifle quite quickly.
  • Open injuries of the skin (cuts, but also open places with skin diseases)
  • Infectious diseases
  • Menstruation
  • Diarrhea
  • People should not be under the influence of drugs. There were deaths under the influence of ketamine. Also, not when they suffer from an acute psychosis (extreme perceptual distortions, delusions or even acute suicide). A consultation with a doctor (possibly accompanied by a practitioner) is necessary for mentally unstable persons.
